RAM Tool primarily utilizes grade 420 Stainless Steel for projects requiring highly intricate machining of hard metals. We produce surgical instruments, knife blades, scissors, needle valves, turbine components, bushings, bearings and fasteners using 420 Stainless Steel material. Its combination of hardness and wear resistance makes it ideal for applications requiring durability and precision.
420 Stainless Steel is a high-carbon martensitic stainless steel known for its exceptional hardness and moderate corrosion resistance. We can achieve surface tolerances as low as ±0.005 mm (0.0002 inches) in-house. This alloy contains at least 12% chromium, which enhances its corrosion resistance, while its higher carbon content increases strength and wear resistance. When heat-treated, 420 Stainless Steel can achieve a Rockwell hardness of 50 HRC or higher, making it suitable for demanding environments.
